The Playoffs and Card Values

Everyone knows that when a player does well in the playoffs, regardless of sport, the card values immediately respond. When Tom Brady won his first Super Bowl, his cards went nuts. When Peyton Manning won his first playoff game, the same thing happened. The card values may already be high in most of the cases, but a national stage only perpetuates more value. At this point, when you are holding a card for a player you have no attachment to, this is your chance to sell and for a lot more money than normal. The playoff bump doesnt last forever, and its always wise to cash in while you can.

Here is a list of players that should get some nice bumps come December and January:

The No Doubters

Adrian Peterson - Peterson has only played in one game, and did reasonably well. If he pulls off a big game, it could be a fire sale on his cards for the people holding them. However, he is already the most expensive non-retired player, so who knows.

Brett Favre - Favre's values have been rising ever since he put on the purple, but it could get crazy if the Vikings go deep into the playoffs. Look for a ridiculous spike on all his Vikings cards and a generous bump on the Packers ones if he wins or has a big game. SPA and Exquisite should be the first place for on card Vikings autos.

Percy Harvin and Sidney Rice - Harvin is already at or near the top of the class in rookie value, but the Playoffs could do some crazy things for his numbers. Rice's value has been climbing just the same, so a big 10 reception game with a few TDs could do wonders for his undervalued cards.

Peyton Manning - I dont think there is a ceiling for his cards, but a huge playoff game could give some big bumps to his already high cards. He has so many cards that its tough to predict where they would end up, but it could go very nicely for those of you who have them.

Reggie Wayne and Pierre Garcon - Two guys that are ridiculously undervalued as receivers and one with barely any cards. If you have the chance to pick up cards for either one do so now, because a Colts playoff run will make you lots of money.

Joseph Addai - Everyone loved Reggie Bush, but Addai got very little love. Its too bad, because he definitely deserves it. Addai is primed for a great game and that will help your Addai cards tremendously.

Drew Brees - I cant say anything that hasnt already been said for Brees. His rookie cards are at peak value right now, but his other cards arent quite there - YET. If he does well again this year in the playoffs, its game on.

The Probably Players

Carson Palmer - I think Palmer is a player that hasnt gotten enough of the credit for the Bengals success. The guy has played like an elite QB all year, and his cards havent really adjusted from previous follies quite yet. I think Palmer is a great pickup.

Kyle Orton - I have seen odd things happen with Orton's cards over the last few years, but this one is definitely his best. If he does well, the cards should hit peak value for the first time.

Brandon Marshall - Marshall has had a great season, but generally collectors are weary of latching on to a guy labeled as a troublemaker. Marshall could break out, and really suprise people.

Knowshon Moreno - Moreno is another top value guy and he should get better as the Broncos gear up for the playoffs. If he has a huge game, his values will spike more than you can imagine due to the Peterson effect. Collectors love running backs that they see have amazing games, and the playoffs will do that ten fold.

Tom Brady - Cards are already high for him, but lack of sigs have made recent values higher than normal. He had a few stickers in 2008 and 2009, but nothing on card for a long time. This could be the year where he gets some of that 2007 value back.

Laurence Maroney - Maroney's value hit rock bottom last year, and I see him earning that back a little with a potentially big game in the first round. He has had the best year of his career so far, and with all the injuries, he should get the majority of the touches.

Randy Moss - Moss has had little to nothing in the last few years, predictably, and I see even better things this year for those early cards if he continues to be awesome.

The Maybe Guys

Aaron Rodgers - Rodgers deserves more credit than he gets in a lot of cases, and the 2009 playoffs could be the stage to do it. His cards have been going up dramatically, and this year will be it if he can get the Packers to the post season. Its going to be tough with Baltimore next week, but maybe they can pull it off. If they make it, he is going to be incredible.

Chris Johnson - I hate Chris Johnson because his sig sucks, but his cards will skyrocket if the Titans can pull off a miracle comeback. He will never have top value as long as his sig stays the way it is, but cards will respond to a game like the ones he has had this year.

Maurice Jones Drew - Like Addai, MJD doesnt have the following that he deserves. I expect him to do great things in years to come, and the playoffs may be the stage to bring collectors on board. Hopefully he will be able to have a good game and get those cards up to where they should be.

Jeremy Maclin - Maclin has put together a good year, but is not the top guy as a WR and due to his lack of consistent production. He will be great in the long run due to the Eagles lack of options, so this may be a good time to pick up some of his stuff beforehand.

Rashard Mendenhall - Mendenhall was hurt all last year, so his value was crap, but this year, it has all come back around. Again with a shitty sig (what is with 2008 RBs?), but he is a Steeler, so that will help. They still have to get there, but his playoff run should bring his cards to peak value.

Mike Wallace - I dont have the same feelings on Wallace that others do, but he has had a good season. He is the Steelers' only position rookie, so his value could spike if he gets involved in a big game. He has become an all or nothing guy in 2009, with some great games and others where he has gotten junk.

Ben Roethlisberger - Ben's cards have always been high as the savior of the Pittsburgh regime, but who knows what will happen if he enters Brady territory with his third ring.

NFL Halfway: Players On The Rise / Players On The Decline

This season, there has been a lot of drama. A lot. Breakout performances, career ending slumps, and all of the stuff in between. I have spent the last 8 mondays covering the rookie side of things, but havent really focused on the veterans. Here is my take on the midway point of the NFL season.

Players On The Rise:

Aaron Rodgers - He lives in the shadow of greybeard, but he has had an absolutely phenomenal season. He has been sacked 31 times due to a banged up O-Line and his lack of quick release, but he still has one of the best QB ratings in the league. He also has more rushing yards than any of the others at the top, and has led Green Bay through their injury bugs to a second place record. His cards should be going nuts right now, but they arent. If you have the chance, this guy could be at the top soon, buy now.

Chris Johnson - Two games over 200 yards, and a multitude of TDs on a shitty team. The guy will be great for years to come, despite what may be happening with his Titans. I see this year as more of a fluke in their record, but his stats have been solid since the beginning. When you play on a team like the Titans, to put up these stats is uncanny.

Drew Brees - The Saints are undefeated so far, and he is mostly the reason. I say that he is probably the best QB to have on your team right now, especially due to his ability to rally a locker room. The guy has amazing accuracy, can throw the deep ball, and is in contention again to measure up to Dan Marino. Pretty amazing. The funny thing is, he doesnt bring in the big bucks like Manning or Brady, and his rookie autos are still at pretty affordable prices considering what he has and will accomplish.

Andre Johnson - I cant say enough good things about Johnson, as he is just a freak of nature whenever he plays. There are maybe one or two corners in the league that could come close to covering him 1 on 1, but even then, he still has a huge advantage with size and speed. He doesnt sign much, so many of the card companies havent been able to get him in their sets. If you can find a rookie auto of his, drop the hammer on any reasonable price.

Reggie Wayne - Wayne plays his game a little differently than Johnson, but is still one of the most ridiculous players around. Every game he gets 12 catches, and could probably manage 5 catches playing one handed. Of course, it helps to have Manning throw you the ball, but still. Like most WRs, his cards are relatively cheap, and thats more of the tragedy of the position in this hobby. Not sure why. He has a good number of cards out there, and most can be had for cheap.

Maurice Jones-Drew - The human bowling ball never disappoints, especially when I go up against him in fantasy. He has put up two 3 TD games already, and has a ginormous YPC avg. Again, the Jags arent too good, but he sure is. His Exquisites go for absolutely nothing compared to what they should, and I think it is one of the better buys out there.

Miles Austin - If you want a poster child for unknowns making it big, here he is. He was undrafted coming out of school, and has been a 3 guy on Dallas' roster for the last few years. Now that TO is gone, he has had the chance to shine, even playing behind Roy Williams. I think his cards have come up considerably lately, but should settle down. Im not sold quite yet, but Im getting there.

DeAngelo Williams - When it was him and DeShaun Foster, he showed nothing more than potential. Now that he is focus, its all production, all the time. He runs with such brute force coupled with speed and finesse, that its not hard to see why he is doing as well as he is. His cards were overshadowed by Bush and company before, and still havent reached the top. He deserves to be worth more than is right now.

Players on the Decline

Larry Johnson - LJ is a fucking idiot in every single way. The guy just doesnt know what's good for him, and I fault his attitude. He was sent home for the second consecutive season this year, and has yet to make anything worth while in terms of a contribution this year. If you are still collecting him, I feel sorry for you.

Ladanian Tomlinson - Tomlinson is definitely coming up on the end of his career, and its pretty disappointing to watch. For someone that used to be as dominating as he was, to watch him struggle for 50 yards is unfortunate. This seems to be the norm with backs as of late, maybe its 8 years and out for everyone now.

Terrell Owens - I hate Terrell Owens as much as I hate Derek Jeter, but for completely different reason. While I think Jeter is a pretty admirable guy who has been overhyped by every reporter for the last 15 years, Owens is a legitimate asshole. He deserves to be a piece of shit, and I laugh every time I see him struggle.

LenDale White - Backs like White and Barber have a tough role in the NFL. Because they are only good at pounding it in for scores, they have to stay good at it to be considered a viable option. Barber is still very good, White isnt. Plus when Chris Johnson is the other guy in front of you, its tough to look good.

Brady Quinn, Jamarcus Russell and the other 2007 QBs - there isnt a more sorry group of NFL players than these guys. Quinn started, was benched, and then started again, and is now playing behind Derek Anderson who should be retired due to lack of ability. I think its just as much the team as the guy, but damn, when you cant even perfom to a minimal standard, its sad. Russell is a little different, as he is just terrible as people have come to see. Supposed to be a better Daunte Culpepper with more accuracy and better legs, he has instead turned into a guy that looks worse than Culpepper is now. Interception after interception, fumble prone, and the reason for his team's shitty play, Russell is proof as to why its risky to draft a QB with a top pick.

Eli Manning - Not only did he not deserve the money he got, but he has never put up numbers to be considered among the elite QBs in the league. His SB win was definitely a team effort, and his last 3 losses in a row have shown how little he can do without a supporting cast. I have disliked him ever since he refused to play on the Chargers during the 2004 draft, forcing a trade for Phillip Rivers, but now he is more than that. He represents everything I hate about New York football. Overpaid players who cant do shit. He has a career passer rating of 77, and this year he has 8 interceptions, 3 lost fumbles and 13 TDs. Thats almost as many turnovers as scores for him. He isnt at the same place as some of the other guys on this list, but being paid what he is, he deserves to be here.

Kurt Warner - Im surprised he was able to do what he did last year, as most people thought he was done. This year he just looks old and out of place, and has thrown as many interceptions as TDs. Of course, his team is still doing okay, but his age is starting to be more than just a number. I dont think the Cardinals have many more options, but he is on his way out, again.

Reggie Bush - Im not sure how long before you can call someone a bust, but Bush is right on the cusp. He has had production, but not at the level he should have. Its obviously a size issue as well as a vision issue, as he has never shown that he has the presence of mind to be a top back in the league. Im sure there are a lot of people out there who are smacking themselves for investing as much as they had in him.

Surprise of the First Half:

Five letters: F-A-V-R-E.

Rookie of the First Half:

I think Harvin has meant a ton to his team, but Sanchez probably still takes it.

Offensive MVP(s) of the first half:

Peyton Manning and Drew Brees (tie) - ridiculous numbers and undefeated records.

Defensive MVP of the first half:

Jared Allen - and thats not even a homer pick. Elvis Dumervil takes second.

Super Bowl Prediction time:

Eagles vs Colts, I can see the Eagles being the team to beat if they continue to play as well as they have, but the Colts are just too good. The Saints or Vikings could easily sneak in if they get lucky.

Its going to be a whirlwind second half, lets hope the second eight games are as good as the first eight.

NFL Rookie Battle Royale: Week 1

Thank the fucking lord its football time again. That’s all I gotta say. Yesterday was almost an out of body experience, as it was awesome just to take in all the action. I spent the entire morning gearing up for the Vikings game, and when it came time, my excitement was at critical mass. Now that Sunday is over, the Vikings are huge winners, and we have some idea as to a few rookie roles, I want to go over the weekly rookie recap for all you prospectors out there. Each week, in place of last year's value bumps, ill run down some of the top rookie performances and go over what it should mean for their cards. Hopefully this can help a few of you out. It has only been one game, small sample size rule in effect, so take this as you will.

Mark Sanchez

From the beginning of it all, Sanchez was pretty highly touted as the one NFL ready QB in the draft. He gave a lot of credibility to that sentiment as he led his team to a big victory over the Texans. His TD was a wide open throw to Chansi Stuckey, but the rest of his performance wasn’t as easy. You can bet dollars to donuts that his cards are going to spike this week due to his good game, but im sure there will be just as many bad weeks as there are good ones. Be wary of holding his stuff too long, however, Sanchez did look like the real deal.

Matthew Stafford

It was established early on that Stafford was going to have a very tough time doing well with such a poor team in front of him. Yesterday was definitely a testament to that as he threw three interceptions and no touchdowns in a Lions loss. Granted, the Saints are one of the better teams in the league, and a tough start to a career that is going to be rough at first, but Stafford did not perform very well. The Lions were kind of in it for some of the game, but no one doubted the success of Brees and company who rolled all over them in the fourth quarter. Stafford's value shouldn’t drop too much, but it was never a wise idea to hold him in the first place.

Percy Harvin

When Sunday's game ended, I was practically shaking from the excitement over what the combination of AD, Favre and Harvin could bring. Harvin was the only non-QB rookie to score a TD on Sunday, and had some KEY runs and catches near the goal line to help the Vikings. He was as good a decoy in addition, as I saw the Browns try to account for him every time he stepped onto the field. He also had a couple good kick returns that set up the team close to the 50, and should be a major contributor in the futrure for the Vikings. He isnt going to be 1998 Randy Moss this year, but he is worth a look either way. His values are already pretty high, so it may be better to wait until he cools off a little, but once he does, get on it.

Beanie Wells

For every OSU fan in the world, there are probably three OSU haters, all of who's eyes were on Wells yesterday. He got as many carries as Hightower, but didn’t get much of a good look due to a good showing by the Niners' defense. I would say that Wells should end up with one of the better seasons for the rookie RBs, but he will need to improve dramatically. There was one play where he just went the wrong direction and basically left a 38 year old Warner to fend for himself, something that will not fly in this league. Its mistakes like those that could hurt him, though I doubt it will happen again.

LeSean McCoy

Many of us were on board with McCoy before the Eagles even took him in the draft. When the Eagles did take him, a lot of collectors saw a lot of room for growth behind Westbrook, who was coming off an injury season. Its great to see that McCoy put up the best numbers of all the big rookie running backs, even though it was only 46 yards. He should have a good season, though the McNabb injury definitely hurts those chances. I would say that him and Donald Brown will fight it out for best rookie back after it is all said and done, even moreso if Westbrook goes down again.

Donald Brown

Brown got some carries yesterday, though he only averaged 3 yards per. Addai is going to be the focus until he cant run, so Brown will be delegated to off series. He should do pretty well, if only because the Colts will do well, and could put up a five or six TD season. I wouldn’t go running out to buy any of the rookie back cards, but Brown is cheap enough that it may not be a bad idea. His value didn’t go very high in the off season because he didn’t have throngs of college fans chasing his stuff, but he should be good enough for you to take a look at.

Knowshon Moreno

I don’t think yesterday's game was a good measure of Moreno's potential, mainly because NO ONE did well, but I think his eight carries for nothing bear some concern for the people that have him as a target. Peyton Hillis looked like he went down, meaning Moreno's carries will go up, but he needs to perform even when he is back number three. I say that Moreno shouldn’t have a bad season, its just not going to be crazy. If you are holding his cards, be sure to prepare yourself for a longer wait than I once expected.

Mike Wallace

Before Thursday, I didn’t know who Mike Wallace was. Much to the chagrin of Titans fans, he became the pride of Steelers nation after the game, basically securing a win for them with a huge catch in OT. His cards are not going to be worth anything until he shows any consistency, but you can see why his values went from scrub to a little more than scrub after his catch.

Johnny Knox

Last, but not least, Johnny Knox was week 1's top rookie receiver in terms of yardage, so far. He may have only caught 2 passes, but his 68 yarder was a step away from a TD. He caught another ball for more yards, making him a surprise for the Bears, also solidifying his place on the roster. Knox was not a premiere guy, so his autos are probably numbered pretty high, but that also means that you can easily pick a few of them up for a receiver who may make you a few dollars if he continues to play well.

Im still eager to see how Hey Bey and the other Monday night rookies perform tonight, but I am looking just as much towards next week with a few of the rookies with possible good games. I would look for Harvin against the Lions, Moreno against the Browns, and Brown against Miami.

Value Bumps: Year In Review

This year, the NFL was a mush pot of craziness, mainly because everything went in the opposite direction of what was expected. There were so many surprises over the course of the season, that I went into each week expecting something to happen. Now, heading into the playoffs, its become pretty obvious that 2008 will be a year that many will remember for both good and very very bad reasons.

Before the preseason, everyone was talking about God, or as people in Green Bay call him, "Brettius Favrosis the Magnificent." First he had retired, then he came back, then he wanted out of the cheese factory in Green Bay (BLASPHEMY!!). Eventually he ended up with New York, and Aaron Rodgers was set up for the franchise. Both the Pack and the Jets missed the playoffs, so im guessing Tony Kornheiser died a little inside, but it didn’t stop people from flipping a shit over Favre in the news and in the hobby. Favre cards of him on the Jets went nuts, and Rodgers got a pretty big bump out of the gate due to his early play.

Of course, with the BMOC now in NYC, poor Chad Pennington had nowhere to go, so he took a chance on the 1-15 Miami thinking that it would be a good place to showcase his lack of recent talent. In true 2008 fashion, and in the biggest turn around in NFL history, they end up 11-5 thanks to their new found winning combo of Pennington, Brown and the Wildcat. Who do they beat in week 17 to secure the division? Why the New York Jets! That could be the best 'Fuck You' ever. Chad's cards had never really been worth all that much, and that really didn’t change, but that didn’t mean that people like Ronnie Brown and John Beck didn’t get anything out of it. Brown's value went way up, while Beck's went way down, no surprises there. Maybe those 2005 boxes of Exquisite will finally be worth the break now.

Staying within the division, Tom Brady, ladies man, gets his leg torn off, and Matt Cassel, a guy who seemed to be everything that every Pats-hater loves, was left with the team in his hands. We all expected a miserable season, though as things went on, it seemed like Cassel was just as good as could be expected within Bellichick's system. Even though half the team was out for the season with Brady, the Pats finish 11-5, though they miss the playoffs. It couldn’t be more perfect. Just goes to show you that personel isnt the only thing that makes a team good. As a result, and even though they didnt make the playoffs, Cassel's cards hit the high notes, and you can expect that when he pulls a Matt Schaub and goes elsewhere, the value might stay in the same region.

From the Pats, to the team that beat them, it was truly a great year for the Giants. Number one seed, home field advantage through the playoffs, everything was going great as the end was in sight. Then Plaxico went out for a night with the boys carrying a little too much protection. The Giants lose their top receiver, but don’t really lose much of a step in beating the Panthers the following week. With everything already sewn up, its not too big of a deal to retool things a little.

Interestingly enough, they lose to the Vikings in week 17, which gives Purple Jesus his first playoff birth and an exclamation point to his mammoth season. I thought that this would be a mid to okay season for AD, but in true Peterson fashion, that joke was on me. The Vikings win the division thanks to Peterson and Gus "Bang Your Head" Frerotte's return to glory, leaving the Pack at 6-10 and Peterson with a rushing title. Amazing. Peterson's cards hover about where they ended after 2007, which is a feat in itself, as most people thought that it would be crazy to buy in (including me). Yet, after 2008, we may have to change our tune on value and hype thanks to the Peterson deisel.

Rookies in 2008 were not anything to forget either, as this years class was nothing short of remarkable. Matty Ice Ryan takes his team to the playoffs after a miserable 2007 season, and does it in a freakishly amazing show of skill. Flacco and the Ravens equal his success and take their team to the playoffs too, capping the first time I can remember where TWO RC QBs take their teams to the playoffs without looking like they are amateurs. Both of their card values went through the roof, rightfully so, and now with a playoffs ahead, the sky is the limit (see Roethlisberger for more info).

QBs were not the only RCs to make big news either, as Chris Johnson, Matt Forte, and Jonathan Stewart made people remember why RBs are always a good bet. The thing was that it wasn’t those three that were tops in value to begin the season, and the guys who were are now at half the price in some cases (see McFadden and Mendenhall).

Lastly, we move to the Lions, as they looked like they were playing a team of RCs every week. They end up as the worst team in NFL history at 0-16, and really, it was expected. The only bright spot was Calvin Johnson, who may have been the first Lions draft pick in years to actually be good. Too bad he will end up in Canton for all the wrong reasons.

My NFL MVP: Drew Brees or Kurt Warner
Defensive MVP: James Harrison
My NFL ROY: Matt Ryan
Comeback POY: Chad Pennington
Biggest Surprise: Falcons and Ravens win with RCs
Best QB: Drew Brees
Best RB: Adrian Peterson
Best WR: Andre Johnson
Best RC QB: Matt Ryan
Best RC RB: Chris Johnson and Matt Forte (tie)
Best RC WR: Eddie Royal

As a person who followed the NFL more closely this year than ever, it was great to document the hobby fluctuations here on the blog for the first time. I think that we still have a great playoffs coming up to hopefully fill those mind sanctuaries for the 6 months ahead with no football, and I will guarantee that I will make sure to let you guys know how I feel. Also, with the Draft in the months after the Super Bowl, I hope that 2009 will look as good as 2008 did.

Thanks to all of you footballers out there, I think its baseball dominated blog world, and its nice to see there are a lot of you on here who still collect cards from the gridiron.

Value Bumps: Week 14

Wow, its been a while since I have done this, and I am finally getting back into the swing of things, as you can tell. Thanks to the list of shit I need to do dwindling down to only a few things, I think I am ready to get back on the horse. This edition of Value Bumps will be more of a collaboration of a few weeks, but it was still a pretty good week for a lot of the main players in the hobby.

Matt Forte

My nemesis, the bane of my 2008, the guy continues to produce, much to my chagrin. The guy has had a better RC season than Gale Sayers, and that is impressive. The problem I have is more with the team he plays for, as the Bears continue to nip at the heels of my Vikings. His cards have flustered with the top of the 2008 class due to the economy, but he is still one of the bigger RCs of the year.

BUMP: UP

Matt Ryan

Matty Ice is ROY without question. The guy is maybe the best RC QB since Marino, and trust me, Akili Smith is quite jealous. His cards are huge right now, and over the last few weeks, he has shown that his team is ready for the show in the next few weeks. His success only shows how important a good QB is to a winning team - just look at Peterson.

BUMP: UP

LaDanian Tomlinson

It looks like his season has plummeted alongside the Chargers' playoff hopes, and his card values havent done much better. Tomlinson will always be a valuable pull, but this year just wasnt his year. Too bad really, as his success was well documented, and to see him falter is tough to watch.

BUMP: DOWN

Chris Johnson

Besides Forte, this guy was one of the bigger surprises of the year, and last week, he was like a stock car at Daytona. The guy runs like freight train, and his yards and TDs keep piling up, even with LenDale White at like 40 TDs as well. His card values are at the top of the class, and I hope the Titans can do well enough to get him some additional value.

BUMP: UP

Aaron Rodgers

I guarantee that there are at least 20,000 Packer fiends that are screaming at themselves for giving up on Fah-ve. Rodgers has led his team right out of contention in the North, and I am sure his card values have been feeling it lately. Personally I am loving it because I hate the Packers, but I know this is something that a lot of recent Rodgers investors are pretty pissed about. Its been a rule of mine to never get involved in a contract year, but that doesnt stop anyone usually. Look at Adrian Beltre!

BUMP: DOWN

Joe Flacco

Ryan isnt the only game in town for RC QBs, and Flacco has been exceeding expectations for months. The guy, like Ryan is leading his team into the playoffs, and has a great defense to help him go very, very far a la Roethlisberger. Look for big things.

BUMP: UP

Harry Douglas

Or the wonder that is Harry Douglas, for sure. He was a nobody at the Rookie Premiere earlier this year and since has become an integral part of the Falcons' offense. If you talk about great catches, he comes up twice in the conversation. I was lucky to pull an auto of his out of BC, but it was a redemption, so I would say wait on picking those up. Regardless, he gets a bump.

BUMP: UP

Calvin Johnson

If the Lions ever become a good team again, this guy will reap the benefits. His play has been the only bright spot this year for the Lions, and now with the loss of Roy Williams, this guys career may go somewhere if the motor city kitties ever find a way to win again. He gets an even bump on a team that has nothing but downs on it. Good for him to hold his value in that shithole.

BUMP: EVEN

Jared Allen

Allen could be the most vocal and visible defensive end in Vikings history, and I love every minute of it. The guy is a walking punchline, and its not because of his play on the field, thank god. Of course, he loves every minute of it too. The problem? He has one auto that has ever been made and it is tough to get. 40 dollars to the first person to send one to me. That card has gone steadily up over the season, and now its close to impossible to find it for under 40 bucks. That is impressive for a DE on a Minnesota team. Plus, he signs through the mail, so a bump for him.

BUMP: UP

Jonathan Stewart

Sadly DeAngelo has taken over as the top guy, but I still see good things in the future for him. His cards have dropped recently, but should go up again when he gets his carries in the playoffs. Keep an eye out for his upcoming SPAs and Exquisites, they will have some big values attached to them - you watch.

BUMP: DOWN

Thats about it for now, more to come as the weeks progress.

Value Bumps: Week 11

I cant do to much of an intro on a busy day today, but damn, 10-0? I seriously thought the Titans would suck this year. Who knew?

Tony Romo

Comes back and wins against Washington? That gets a bump because the Cowboys fans just collectively gizzed themselves and went out and bought half a gazillion Romo cards. Even without Portis, I would have expected Washington to win just out of principle, but Big D and Mrs Simpson come through.

BUMP: UP

DeAngelo Williams

Its interesting to see this guy come through for the second week in a row. Coming out of the 2006 draft, not one person would say the top two RBs would be Drew and Williams. Granted, Willams did play against the University of Detroit Lions (Div IIa), but he still was a beast.

BUMP: UP

Maurice Jones-Drew

2 TDs after a 3TD week gets you a nice bump in this hobby, and his cards were already doing pretty good. I would get on his shit if you can because the human bowling ball will continue to be a force in this league, just wait until Taylor retires.

BUMP: UP

Peyton Hillis

Who the fuck is Peyton Hillis, and how the fuck did he score two TDs? Its almost guaranteed that if you are a RB in Denver, you are going to be getting carries and scores. Jesus christ, its like a fucking factory over there.

BUMP: UP

Steve Slaton

Good game gets you a bump, great game at 150+ with a TD gets you a bigger bump. Stevie Slaton has proven that while he has trouble signing his cards, he does have a pretty good shot at being a good RB.

BUMP: UP

Jamarcus Russell

Still shitting it up over in Oakland and he keeps showing that Al Davis really needs to invest in a little more offensive talent to surround him or he will be the next Akili Smith.

BUMP: DOWN

Larry Johnson

Comes back from his ban of douchebaggery and puts up 19 for 67. Good fucking job, asshole. Go back to your hole.

BUMP EMERITUS: DOWN

Possible Bumps for Next Week

Aaron Rodgers - At the top now, but has the chance to shine again on Monday night.
Matt Fucking Forte - Against a shittier rush defense than the Packers? You better perform.
Darren McFadden - He better get going or he will drop faster than Culpepper's passer rating.

Value Bump MVPs - First Half

We are coming up on the start of the second half of the season, and I wanted to go through and give you my perspective on what the hobby looks like based on the stories from the first 8 games. There have been quite a few bumps, and I think there is some major topics to cover based on those. These arent your typical awards, mainly because this is based on the hobby rather than performance on the field. However, performance factors in, so take it as you will.

Collector Rookie of the First Half - Chris Johnson

Coming into the season, there were a few Running Backs who we thought would be the guy to bank on, and prices showed that. McFadden, Jones, Stewart, etc, but Chris Johnson was no where to be found in that company. Matt Ryan, Chad Henne and Brian Brohm had a following as the top QBs in the draft, especially Ryan, so they were already high priced. Then, once people saw the autograph Fail-VP in action, his cards jumped. Matt Forte also had a jump, but was already higher on the list after Benson was benched and he was named the started. That is why the guy with the Prize is Mr "Death By Sharpie," Chris Johnson.

He leads the league in RC rushing yards, rushing TDs, Yds/Game avg, and YPC avg. He also has the second highest number of first downs gained, and the number of rushes over 20 yards with 5.

Biggest RC Disappointment of the First Half - Rashard Mendenhall

A top prospect going into the season with a great team makes you valuable in this hobby. Too bad Mendenhall's value dropped faster than George Bush's approval rating once people saw the future "star" on the sideline with chronic fumblitis. He got into a game or two, but was usually limited in his carries, and ended up getting hurt before he could accomplish anything. This runner up for the autograph Fail-VP went from a nice pull to another Eric Ainge pull, and a lot of collectors were left holding the bag. That sucked.

McFadden was a person who was among the finalists too, but he spent more time on the field, and his cards are actually still pretty valuable. Mendenhall, not so much.

Biggest Bump Among Non-RCs - Brandon Jacobs

Its funny that people in bigger markets like Jacobs, never get any attention unless they are the cornerstone of a team. Well, Jacobs has finally gotten a portion of the spotlight, and his cards have reflected as such. He went from a 2 dollar auto pull to a considerable pull thanks to his beastly gains in both TD production and total yardage. It doesnt hurt that the Giants are having a good season, but good luck trying to get more than a two color patch out of these jersey fails.

He is fourth in the league in rushing, has a staggering 9 TDs to his credit, and is second in the league in rushes over 20 yards with 10. Pretty big bump there - check out his stats from last year.

Comback Hobby Player of the First Half - LenDale White

9-0? Check. 11 TDs? Check. Facemask that is squished against your face? Check. Huge hobby bump from last year? Check.

When LenDale white came out of last season, the guy must have known that things werent going as planned. When he saw that Kerry Fucking Collins was signaled as the starter when Vince-y boy went down, he must have thought it would have been a long season. Luckily this guy is a goal line cloverfield, and scores more TDs than some entire teams. That will get you far in this hobby. 2006 was a hobby super year (not so much now), and White was riding Bush's coattails into a semi-valuable hobby following. Once he got on the field and people saw his production, or lack there of, his value plummeted. Now, finally, its back up. Congrats.

Biggest Hobby Disappointment, First Half - Vince Young

Holy crap. I dont even know where to start with the golden boy. First he says he doesnt know if he wants to play football anymore, then he gets injured, and finally he goes off on a 3 day quest to find himself that makes people start a suicide watch for him. What a mess. He is now back on the sidelines, but he is already with the rest of the class of '06 in the dumps. If you are still holding his shit, you are dumber than I thought you were.

Thing That No One Could Imagine Happening In a Million Years - Adrian Peterson Holding His Value From Last Year's Boom.

I predicted that Purple Jesus would get crucified when he didnt put up monster numbers behind an AWFUL team. What didnt expect was this guy to emerge as THE leader on the team and blow everyone away with his tenacity and production. He has held his value, and that is fucking scary considering where it was following a ROY, Pro-Bowl MVP (Meaningless, but still drives value), and the NFL record for yards in a single game.

So far, he is leading the league in rushing yards, YPC avg, and runs over 20 yards with a ridiculous 14. He is second in first downs acheived, and just about every other secondary category. That is beast mode activated, right Marshawn?

Brightest 2nd Half Hobby Future - Matt Ryan

I never expected a rookie QB to have success, ever. The game is just too tough to learn without any experience, look at the best in the business, and none of them did well their RC season (if they even played). Ryan is different, and to tell you the truth, he needed to be, in a franchise coming off the Michael Vick scandal. If he continues to be awesome, the Falcons have a good shot at making the playoffs behind him. I am watching for sure.

The Kurt Warner Award For Coming Out of Nowhere to Be Awesome - Kurt Warner

I picked him up on my fantasy team to be a backup "just in case," yet he has been my starter week in and week out. The guy is putting up numbers and a half, and I gotta give it to him, it sounds awfully familiar. When the Rams won the Super Bowl, he was the story of the year coming from left field to lead a team to greatness. I think this is a similar situation, though they probably wont go anywhere in the playoffs. He leads the league in QB rating and is near the top in everything, despite missing Anquan Boldin for 2+ weeks.

Biggest Predicted Bump For Second Half - RCs on the Baltimore Ravens

The Ravens are coming on strong and Ray Rice running behind Joe Flacco is proving to be a lethal combo for many defenses. Add in Willis McGahee, and you will have a big bump for these guys when they go pretty deep into the playoff hunt. When the season is over, both Rice and Flacco could be among the top RCs in value, behind Ryan and Chris Johnson.

I wouldnt count Jonathan Stewart out of it though.

Value Bumps: Week 10

Week 10 was a pretty good week for me, as I was very busy celebrating an awesome day by my favorite team and my favorite players. There were quite a few happenings, so Ill get started right away.

Adrian Peterson

I gotta say, he is living up to that built up price from last year. I thought it was virtually impossible after the end of the last season, but he is holding, and that is fucking crazy. Another beast of a game, and a little something that we havent seen on a Vikings team in a while - a guy who wants the ball on the last drive of the game. Man, he was fired up, and it was a beautiful thing to watch the team march down the field on his back. One of my favorite Peterson games of all time.

BUMP: UP

Kevin Smith

Plays for the worst team in the league and possibly history, and he still puts up 96 and a TD in a blowout. I think if he had a better offense to work with, he could be a lot like Chris Johnson, but alas, he didn’t. I give him a bump because for the price you can pick his stuff up for, it’s a deal.

BUMP: UP

Chris Johnson

Dude, wow, that game sucked for you. Holy crap, you were stuffed or losing yards on every play, and the Bears made you look silly. Bad form, baaaaaaad form. I would hope that you would still be a contender for RC of the Year, but I think another person has taken that from you for sure. Better step it up next week or this could be bad.

BUMP: DOWN

Matty "Ice" Ryan

The kid looks great. I cant fucking believe it. Another game, another win against a "good" team. I would say pick up his stuff if you havent already, but I think its starting to get out of control. If you can afford the coin, he will get a huge bump when he is named ROY.

BUMP: UP

Ladanian Tomlinson

He could be the biggest fantasy disappointment of the year, and I feel bad for anyone that drafted him. The chargers have not been that good, and they only won the game because the Chiefs went for 2 as a 1-7 team with nothing to lose. I cant say enough good things about him in the past, but this year he doesn’t have it. Still, you may want to pick up some of his shit while its down, because it wont be there for long.

BUMP: DOWN

Brandon Jacobs

Another beast of a game for him, shit if I know where he came from. He did amazing against a great team, ANNNND it was on a national stage, so you can bet your ass he is getting a bump. I think he is heading for a probowl, and it makes me sad that I sold his auto /5 for like 10 bucks last year.

BUMP: UP

Eddie Royal

Holy shit, he had a huge ass game. I think he may be the steal of the draft already, but I think he still has a way to go. If you see some of the catches that Calvin Johnson makes off shitty ass throws, you can imagine why he went in the top of the draft and Royal didn’t. That doesn’t mean much this season, but it may in the future. Still, he gets another bump.

BUMP: UP

Jay Cutler

Huge game, and I still think he deserves a lot of credit for playing the way he has being a new Diabetic. He is an ass in every sense of the word, but he should definitely be on your buy list, playing the way he has.

BUMP: UP

Maurice Jones-Drew

3 TDs? That’s a good game even when you play the Lions. Welcome back.

BUMP: UP

Matt Schaub

If you are still holding his shit after he signed with the Texans, a bad season, and a really bad season, you are an idiot. Jesus.

BUMP: DOWN

Larry Johnson

Your team is down to Savage and Charles for RBs you stupid asshole. I hope you see now that you don’t need to be a douchebag to be good in the NFL.

BUMP EMERITUS: DOWN

Possible Bumps for Next Week:

Adrian Peterson: If he can hit 5 in a row for 100 yard games, that is huge
Jonathan Stewart: A game against the Lions is always good.
Jay Cutler: Huge game against the falcons
Matt Ryan: Huge game against the Broncos

Value Bumps: Week 8

I didnt watch much football other than the first games of the day, so ill get this going.

Ray Rice

Its too bad that McLain gets the TDs, because when you rush for 150+ you deserve a shot. He had a great game and could be helping Joe Flacco in a playoff run if he is lucky. If that happens look for a huge bump for both. Right now, lets see what happens next week.

BUMP: UP

Joe Flacco

He hasnt had a STELLAR season, but he has had a good enough one to be within striking distance of Blitzburgh. I give him credit, as that Mark Clayton TD looked awfully pretty. Like I said with Rice, if he makes the playoffs, his cards may be worth something, otherwise you may have to wait a year or two.

BUMP: UP

Chris Johnson

Another good week for him, and I see something very smooth in the way he runs after seeing what he did to the Packers. Granted he has a great O line, but he still has the raw talent to be pretty damn good as a lightning to White's Thunder.

BUMP: UP

Brandon Jacobs

This guy is quickly becoming really fucking beast mode-ly, right Marshawn? I think its tough to be anyone in NY because their cards just dont carry unless you are the QB. Tiki only had value towards the end of his career, and I still dont see Jacobs making that much of a hobby splash for some reason. Jets fans may be different, but the NY focus is always baseball. Plus it helps if you play somewhere other than Jersey.

BUMP: UP

Kyle Orton

You sign a huge ass deal and then you go down. That is the rule of the road in the NFL and your ankle was the beneficiary of this rule. I really dont think it would have made too much of a difference, though I would have liked to see the Lions kick your ass like they were seeming to do.
BUMP: DOWN

Matt Ryan

Again I am surprised by how awesome of a season the Falcons are having, considering the disaster they were last year. I guess it helps when you go about things the right way, *cough* Al Davis *cough*. While someone like Jamarcus Russell is failing miserably in Oakland, Ryan is flourishing. RC QBs are not supposed to win games for their teams, they are supposed to fuck up beyond all recognizable belief! Wow.

BUMP: UP

Derek Anderson

If you lose to Cincy this year, you automatically suck. Derek Anderson has been a house of sucktitude this year, maybe this should have been a bump up for Brady Quinn. Anderson was a fluke, if you still have his cards, do a fly pattern to eBay while they are still worth ANYTHING.

BUMP: DOWN

Larry Johnson

Im putting you on here for the rest of the year because you are a huge fucking idiot. Go hang with Pacman and tell him how his ass tastes.

BUMP EMERITUS: DOWN

Possible Bumps For Next Week

Chris Johnson: If he puts up huge numbers against Chicago - crown him.
Matt Forte: If he puts up huge numbers against Tennesee, I may lay off him.
Derek Anderson: You have one more chance before your cards are burned in effigy.
Jonathan Stewart: Oakland is a hot mess of cat shit right now, hopefully he can take advantage.

Value Bumps: Week 7

This was the Running Back week of champions. Either you did your job to everyone's wildest expectations, or you died trying. I had a fun time this week, but I think we finally get a picture of the elite and the chumps for the year.

Chris Johnson

If ROY was decided today, he is it - hands fucking down. He had a huge-mungous week, and helped his boys continue the undefeated surprise. Granted, it was against the Chiefs, but the overall body of work has been impressive on a VERY surprisingly good Titans team.

BUMP: UP

LenDale White

White has found a niche with the Titans as well, as he is their version of Marion Barber from 2007. If Johnson is the Lightning, he is the fucking Rhinoceros, Thunder is weak. He had a huge game too, and even broke off an 80 yarder. Wow, TD leader indeed.

BUMP: UP

Derek Anderson

After a great fucking season last year, he has had a shitstain season this year. I wasnt expecting much, but it seems like the computers were as they drafted him for me as the QB for all my fantasy teams. BITCHES. Either way, dump his crap and start buying Quinn at rock bottom prices.

BUMP: DOWN

Reggie Bush

He is injured again? Man, this golden draft class is getting a golden shower. After last week's big bump, he is heading in the wrong direction again. Its really too bad, as I know A LOT of people are still sitting, albeit stupidly, on his stuff. Can we please give up on him value wise now, im exhausted with him.

BUMP: DOWN

Ben Roethlisberger

What a great season he is having. He may actually live up to some of the value he has built up just for being the Steeler's QB. I say that with a 5-1 team and no more New England, he could go far with the Chargers being crap.

BUMP: UP

Darren McFadden

He gets a bye week to heal up, he gets a nice test of ability, and comes up way short. Of course, they won, but his value continues to drop. I said he wouldnt accomplish much at the beginning of the year, and it looks closer and closer to being true. If you bought in high, you are going to really feel it if he fucks himself even more. Yet, people are missing the point - its never a good idea to enter at the top level and hope for the best.

BUMP: DOWN

Clinton Portis

This guy is FINALLY turning it on for the skins. Huge week for him, and he is the frontrunner of all the RBs for the year. Too bad he is doing it in the toughest division in football. He will start getting his bump this week, and if he continues, it could be big.

BUMP: UP

Possible Bumps for Next Week:

Jonathan Stewart: If he can put up a big game versus AZ, expect big things.
Clinton Portis: Detroit? Cmon.
The Entire NY Jets Team: You better win, or things are going to get ugly
Chris Johnson: Playing Indy on Monday night? Nice place for a show!
Matty Ice: If Ryan wins against Philly, his values will spike considerably

Value Bumps: Week 6

This week had a ton of crazy ass finishes, and I loved every minute of it. There were a lot of surprises, and I think I need to go over a few of them so that I can help myself process what just happened.

Matt Ryan

It has been a long fucking time since I have seen a RC quarterback play this well. I watched the entire game against the Bears, and I think the Dolphins are starting to realize they made a mistake. He is poised, accurate, and has the possibility of being on a team that goes from drafting third to being in the playoffs. Crazy. Congrats on the first 300 yard game for a RC this year.

BUMP: UP

Michael Turner

As much as Ryan did great, Turner did awful. I wouldnt say the wheels are falling off the Burner Bus quite yet, but this was a pretty bad week for him.

BUMP: DOWN

Kyle Orton

I have no fucking clue how this guy can be doing as well as he is. The year before the Bears lost in the Super Bowl, he was pretty much just plugging the time until the defense could get back on the field, and this year, he is actually making some waves. Unfuckingbelievable.

BUMP: UP

Bernard Berrian

Two great weeks in a row, and the Vikings longest play from scrimmage in a century, so he makes this list easily. WR cards are still worth nothing, but he goes from way down to about a smidgeon on the positive side, so you may want to think about picking up his RC cards while they are still going for a penny on the bay.

BUMP: UP

Matt Schaub

Talk about a crazy finish, AND it comes to get your first win against a tough team as of late. He played very well, and it really stopped the free fall his cards were taking during the suckfest that the Texans were in the midst of. I still think its funny that the Patriots couldnt stop the Dolphins, but the Texans manage to hang on. That is crazy fucking shit.

BUMP: UP

Aaron Rodgers

He continues to impress with half of the teams fans jumping all over him not being Fah-ve. He did really well for being injured, but it wasnt exactly against the best team. He continues to get a bump, however.

BUMP: UP

Greg Jennings

I would say he is close to being the best receiver in the NFC right now. The guy is a beast. What is funny is that even with him, Rodgers and driver, Grant still sucks like a little high school slut. HAW HAW!

BUMP: UP

Rashard Mendenhall

If you havent sold his stuff you were sitting on already, you are an idiot or a Steelers fan. A year ending surgery is pretty much the end of your value, but if you think he may bounce back pretty good next year, could this be the time to jump on him while he is mega cheap?

BUMP: DOWN

Possible Bumps for Next Week

Matt Fucking Forte - if he can put up a good game against the Williams wall and the rest of the Vikings D, ill jump on board. Otherwise I get to slap him in the face with a lead pipe. Deal?

LaDanian Tomlinson - I will say that he has one more week before fantasy owners riot in the streets of San Diego (Whale's Vagina). After that, he better pick it up.

Eli Manning - I think the Giants are sadly in Super Bowl form again. If they win tonight and win next week, Eli is well on his way to an MVP. That always means a huge bump, more so than he already has.

Ronnie Brown - Who woulda thunk that Miami would be as close to the top as they are. They look great, but that loss to Houston was a heartbreaker. If Ronnie goes nuts next week on a Ravens team that gave up 31 to a sinking Indy team, he could be rolling in the dough. Good for him.

NFL Week 5: Value Bumps

Of all the weeks so far, this was the most boring in my opinion. I felt myself snoozing on a lot of these games, and other than the colts/texans, there werent many fireworks. Besides that, there were a few bumps.

Matt Ryan

I dont remember a rookie QB doing this well, in terms of leading his team, in a long, long time. He has beaten a good team in the Packers (thank the lord), and really hasnt made THAT many mistakes. Michael Turner helps a lot, but ill get to that in a second. Matty ice is pretty much everything the falcons needed, and he has led them to a top half record so far. Lets see if it holds up.

BUMP: UP

Michael Turner

Playing against a defense that hasnt been great against the run, he did very well. In fact, he hasnt had many bad weeks. I still am not going to say he is the real deal, but he is pretty close. Lets let him get a full season under his belt before we crown him. He IS leading the league in rushing, and he is leading the league in Touchdowns, but he is all the falcons have really. Roddy White was good this week, but where is the rest of the offense? Either way, this guy gets a bump.

BUMP: UP

Felix Jones

Its not often you get to steal the RB spotlight away from Barber, but Jones did. He has been pretty solid on kickoffs and the change of pace back, and yesterday, Jones had a great game. I dont think he is on the level of Stewart and Johnson, but he is defintely top 5. As a cowboy, his stuff is never going to be inexpensive, but you may want to take a look before they put Barber back to where he is best, and Jones gets the "Julius Jones" half of the carries. The difference between the two Jones'? Felix is better. Take that as you will.

BUMP: UP

Eddie Royal

Its been a rough few weeks for Fast Eddie. Injuries have complicated things, and I think he is finally coming down to earth. Again, as a WR, his cards will never be worth anything, but I think this week will help bring them down.

BUMP: DOWN

Calvin Johnson

Where the fuck did this guy drop off to? Oh, right, he's a Lion. They dump Millen by the side of lake michigan, and they still get their ass handed to them by Kyle "fucking" Orton. He has had a string of bad weeks and you can pretty much blame Kitna for that. Kitna sucks ass to begin with, and I would expect he will be gone by the end of this year now that Mr. Suck is gone too. I expect the Lions to have the best draft of anyone, as they will only win two games this year - the Vikings next week and the Vikings later in the season.

EMERITUS BUMP: DOWN

Brandon Jacobs

Wow, he put up a great game. He isnt Tiki, so his value wont be top billing until he at least changes his name to Ronde, but he still gets a bump after that monster.

BUMP: UP

Ronnie Brown

Another monster of a week on a pre-season dog. Wow. I am wondering where he decided to crawl out of. Maybe Ricky Willams' dreads?

BUMP: UP

Here are some possible bumps for next week:

Adrian Peterson: You are going against the Lions, nuff said.
Jonathan Stewart: Big week ahead against the Bucs, you better bring it.
Darren McFadden: After a week to heal, if you suck, so will your cards.
Kurt Warner: If you put up one more big game, I think your values may start to climb once more. Then again you are like 90 in FB years, so maybe its too little too late.

Monday, September 29, 2008

Value Bumps: Week 4

Not much happened to the rookies this week, but there were quite a few suprises in terms of the rest of the league. Dallas lost, Philly lost, and a lot of people had some great games.

Brett Favre

I dont know how he fucking does it, but he continues to be a force despite having the body age of 85. 6TDs is a monster and a half, and I was shocked to see that he did it in such awful jerseys. Also, I dont know how his cards can get any more of a bump, so ill say his Jets stuff just gained a head of steam.

BUMP: UP

Matt Forte

I told you Philly would kill him. 19 for 43 when the offense was moving is a pretty bad game. He had 40 receiving, but those were nothing special. I wish people would just see him as a mediocre starting back rather than a guy whose SPA Patch Auto will break $300.

BUMP: DOWN

Chris Johnson

He puts up two TDs against the league's stingiest defense? Thats impressive. He did okay for the game, and he is quickly becoming the front runner for OROY. Too bad his auto didnt pass 2nd grade, a real loss for the collecting base. Hopefully the manufacturers will ban him from products until he signs with a number or something. Its embarassing.

BUMP: UP

Adrian Peterson

I am putting him on this list because it is a feat to keep even with the bumps he got from last year. He is in the top 5 in yards and has 3 TDs on an offense that barely makes it close to the red zone each game. He is doing it with no QB and no WRs, and I gotta give him props for accomplishing as much as he has.

BUMP: EVEN

Darren McFadden

Wow, he dropped off the face of the earth due to that injury. 7 for 20 gets you a big downer, especially when Michael Bush gets your carries. Not necessarily his fault, but not my problem either.

BUMP: DOWN

Larry Johnson

Where oh where have you been lately? Oh, thats right, stuck on a shitty team and injured. Well, its nice to have you back, have a few TDs. I guess now would be a good time to buy in because his prices are WAAAY down and he is showing that he wont be the next Priest Holmes. Its nice to see he can make it back to where he was. Dominant on the league's worst. Good job.

BUMP: UP

Ryan Grant

I totally loved seeing this guy crash and burn. People were paying in upwards of $225 for a sweet spot rookie, and now he is all over every product. I complained back in the beginning of the offseason how much I loathed the fact he was given so much attention in products, and I now have a hearty laugh reserved for the idiots who bought in before he actually accomplished anything outside of half a good season. It only goes to show how much Favre meant to the Packers, as everyone benefited from his dangerousness.

BUMP: DOWN AND A HALF

Michael Turner

Man, what a crappy game that was overflowing with nothingness for him. You can be the burner all you want, but with a rookie QB, I am not going to let you beat me at all.

BUMP: DOWN

Jonathan Stewart

Not bad, not great. Show me some big games or ill give up on your chances of hitting OROY for this year.

BUMP: EVEN

Possible Bumps For Next Week

Laurence Maroney- I hate the system you are in. If you could be on a normal team, I would love you. Right now you are heading down a long and lonely road.

Jonathan Stewart - You get KC next week, be happy. Run happy.

Anthony Gonzalez - I see big things for him next week, but he is a WR, and WRs are never worth anything.

Chris Johnson - Good luck with Baltimore. You're going to need it.

Matt Forte - You get the Lions, you lucky fucking bastard. I hope you have an awful game so I can forget about you.

NFL Week 3: Value Bumps

Im kind of glad week three is over because it was a make or break week for some teams, and some lived up to what they were supposed to do, while others continued their slide. Regardless of how the teams themselves did, there were a few players that had the same clause on their week 3 performances. Here is my opinion on what will happen to the value of their cards:

Michael Turner

Again he puts up a monster game with three TDs, but again he was playing one of the worst teams in the league. I would have been suprised if it didnt turn out the way it did. There will be very few running backs who look bad against the Chiefs, but idiots who will keep buying his stuff high wont care. They play Carolina next week, which could be a test of his true ability.

BUMP: UP

Matt Forte

I hate to keep putting him on this list, but people keep buying his stupid fucking cards at high ass prices. Guess what idiots? He is an average RB who will probably be replaced in next years draft. Look at his stats: 27 for 89yds? Thats awful in this league. If you cant break 100 on more than 25 carries, you arent going to be very good.

BUMP: DOWN

Ronnie Brown

Holy fuck, he ran wild. I cant believe the Dolphins used the direct snap as much as they did, I guess they didnt even trust Chad Pennington to pass the ball those 2 inches on a handoff. Either way, the Pats are falling apart, and fast, especially losing AT HOME to an awful team like Miami. Ronnie Brown gets OPOW and a bump.

BUMP: UP

Matt Cassel

Here is my chance to laugh at the people who bought in at 80 bucks for his Contenders, despite the fact that he will no doubt be a backup again next season. People dont seem to understand what stoploss QB is, so they buy when he beats a few teams. He looked like a backup and his crappy pocket presence led to a lot of offensive woes for the Pats. If you have his shit you are a week late in selling, so watch for the floor to drop out this week - FINALLY.

BUMP: DOWN

Darren McFadden

Wow, he looked AWFUL on that injured foot. He slipped left and right because he couldnt plant on a juke, I guess his R2 button was stuck, or broken. His "turf toe" could become a huge problem, especially for a rookie who was already stuck with an awful team. If you buy in now, you might as well stamp "idiot" in permanent ink across your forehead.

BUMP: DOWN

Matt Ryan

Another good performance against an awful team. Its expected. Dont buy in until he can prove that he doesnt need to have a bad defense to have a good game.

BUMP: EVEN

Steve Slaton

Another Matt Forte in a bottle. He rushes for over 100 and a few TDs and all of a sudden he is worth millions to every card collecting idiot out there. The only difference is that he did it against a Titans D that isnt bad. It makes me feel good for AD next week, as the Vikings definitely have a better OLine. Save yourself the heartbreak and dont pick anything up of his - it wont stick. If you have his shit, now is the time to sell. The Texans offense is bad, and he will succumb.

BUMP: UP

Chris Johnson

This was his first week without doing anything. Keep on him, he didnt do horrible. Plus, LenDale White will get most of the goalline carries, so his TDs will only happen on longer runs. I see him being the next Julius Jones in this situation, but that isnt necessarily a bad thing. His stuff should stay where it is or inflate, depending if he can stay in the OROY race. Plus, with McFadden out of it in my mind, this guy will benefit.

BUMP: EVEN

Felix Jones

This guy is slowly emerging as a great pickup in big D. His return skills are way above average and his TD total is coming along nicely. He had a good game, and I expect more. Still way too high to buy in at over 100 for most autos, but surrounding yourself with one of the best offenses in the game is a big plus for anyone.

BUMP: UP

Eddie Royal

Wait until a few more games pass before buying in. WRs are never good investments.

BUMP: DOWN

Brandon Marshall

He is the real deal, but off the field issues and the above fact make me weary of touching his stuff at all.

BUMP: UP

Possible Bumps for Next Week

Matt Ryan: Going up against Carolina could easily hurt him big time. Watch out.
Aaron Rodgers: I see a good week for him coming up. TB has big holes in the secondary.
Matt Forte: Philly will kill him, I hope.
