Chipper Jones is back playing third for the Braves against the Angels tonight, taking the field with a shiner. My first "news" story and it turns out to be about as interesting as watching grass grow.
Since I can't find a pic of his black eye at the moment, I'll leave you with his 1991 Upper Deck RC - one of the gazillions that UD printed in 1991; so much so that even a guy who's a sure HOFer flirting with .400 can't have his RC sell for more than a buck.

Welcome to 1990s collecting.
ReplyDeleteIt's the same with Comic Books too, most everything printed from 1991 to 1997 is virtually worthless. Dealers still have hundreds of copies of X-Men #1 and Adventures of Superman #500 that they can't get rid of.
ReplyDeleteYet, people still treat their collectibles like it is the 90s. Everything is valuable (it isnt), everything will be valuable (it wont), making money is more important than the fun of collecting (it definitely is not).
ReplyDeleteI prefer it to be worthless. Like most things, the greed has destroyed this hobby.
ReplyDeleteAgreed on that, but its the same with every hobby, business, and venture. Have you ever known anything valuable that doesnt carry greed with it? I havent.
