New National Treasures Pics From Panini

I do think that after seeing these pics, National Treasures has gained some potential. Yet, despite a good preview, there are enough questions dogging Panini that im pretty sure its going to end up like all the other products they have crapped out this year. They posted some preview photos, and when you venture outside of the McGee that was released a month ago, the cards dont look that bad.

However for every card that starts like this:

It will end up like this:

Panini needs to get their heads out of their asses and fix this pen issue. It makes a card go from cool to questionable very quickly. Why would I want to pay 200 for a card out NT with bubbly sigs, when I can get on card bold sigs on SPA, Ultimate, Exquisite, and Black? Then when you add in that the ENTIRE set is on card for UD's high end sets, NT looks even further away from perfection.

Anyways, ill be waiting on a sell sheet before we can make a final judgement.

  1. Decent, but I assume those patches will be far from the norm. To be honest I am kind of attached to the old NT designs, kinda disappointed to see it evolving away from it.

  2. That pen does not bother me at all. Not as bad as you are making it out on the Mcgee. Not even half as bad as last years exquisites gold pen issues(worse pen issue in histry). Love the product. Jeff "Attached" to the old treasures design? Last years was totally different then 06 and 07. This by far blows that away.

  3. Whenever you are going to use gold paint pens, you are going to have major problems, I agree. However, those cards were a bonus, and not the box hit. These are a box hit, and the autos look awful on both McGees shown so far.

  5. Awful design on the RAPs. They look like they could be from any Panini product with all the gradients and crap. The clean white design from 2007 and 2008 was near-perfect and really made the autos stand out (and they used nice black ink for those). Definitely a downgrade, just as the NT RAPs were approaching SPA and Exq as far as being "the" RAP to own.

  6. Dmaned if they do damned if they dont change the design, Imagine if they left it "status quo" People would have jumped down their throat. That us why manufacturers can never go wrong. One year 50% of the collectors like them the next the other 50%. LOL I hated last 2 yrs of Exquisite worst designs ever but some liked them.
    Thus the 50% scenario

  7. That's pretty awesome. I actually like the new card design for NT. I guess you just need something to bitch about, huh? ;)

Worse products come to mind, like this year's SP Signature Basketball and SP Authentic Baseball. Gray sticker auto's? WTF?

  8. sp authentic doesnt have gray sticker autos. the card is gray behind the sticker. and yes. sp basketball was probably the worst product ever made. as fat as NT goes. i think its nice. it will actually be worth cracking this year. there has been alot of junk in the past in those products. but if its anuthing like any other product they have put out this year. it will be loaded.. granted. there other products are ugle. but i like this on.y

there products may be ugly. but they have been loaded!
