First Image Posted From National Treasures

Panini posted the first image from 2009 National Treasures on their facebook page today, and the card looks completely different from any other rookie auto patch that they have done. I think its better than I expected, but its far from the level it should be at. The card looks heavily unbalanced and the lines in the back look weird with the swatch window cut the way it is.

Im hopeful for the rest of the set, but in reality, this looks like it would be out of a set on the level of Limited rather than a super high end set like national treasures. Also, if this is representative of the rest of what the set is going to look like, count me out.

  1. I gotta disagree man. Treasures last year was literally a remake from the 07. It needed a face-lift.

I'll give you that it looks like a card from Ultimate, not NT, but that is why I like it.

The 3/4 player picture is great. The team colors in the background are great. I actually like the patch window and how it fits into the lines. I also like the landscape card instead of portrait as in the last 2 years.

It's a really nice original design in my opinion and one that was desperatly needed for Panini. I am encouraged that the rest of the set will come out with a face-lift as well.

I do hope that there is some kind of mechanism to discourage/prevent patch fakes though. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

  3. I think that's the best NT has ever looked. I might have to buy some this year. Well, depending on the checklist and the other designs.

  4. I just dont see it as a good national treasures card. Looks more like something that would be great in Limited. Of course, they would have to layer five types of foilboard on it, so that would suck.

  5. Last years NT preview had me all excited, in reality it came out as the worst year as of yet. It's hard to get an opinion about the product this year just seeing one card. However it looks better than what last year did. I also like the landscape format a lot more.
