Questionable RPA Now Has Slab?

I saw this on eBay yesterday and something just doesnt look right. Im sure that the slab was real at one point, as the registry on it says that the number refers to a Peterson red that was graded a 10. The problem is, the autograph just looks off, and it could just be Peterson's oft messy sig. However, when you look at the real RPAs, I begin to question the authenticity of this card.

The other thing is that I wonder how long it will take for the fake RPAs to be slabbed as real and then sold as such. We know they are very obviously fake, but all it takes is a bad day for one of the HUMAN people to arbitrarily assign a real cert to one of these.

You be the judge:

  1. PSA slabs can relatively easily be opened up and new cards put in. Practiced fakers can do it without any trace. The fake card is then assumed authentic and the real card can either be sold or resubbed to PSA (as it has no serial numbering) and the process continued.

  2. Add in the fact that this particular seller is selling plenty of 'buybacks' and fake patches and this thing is absolutely, 100% fake.

  3. That's why I don't like PSA. Their slabs are terribly cheap looking and flimsy. I'm no Beckett nut hugger, but their slabs are heavy duty and tamper proof.
It's too bad we have to deal with scum bags in our hobby, but there's crooks everywhere. How do you rip people off over and over and feel good about yourself? I'm glad to say I'll never know.
