A Great Day For Me

I was lucky to come home to two things in my mailbox that made me very happy. I had a slip to pick up the two boxes of SPA that I was going to break, and the slip for my Adrian Peterson National Chicle Redemption.

When I opened the package from Carlsbad, I was greeted by one hell of a card. I love the look of the painted National Chicle minis, and to have a signed one, hand numbered to 5 is amazing. The fact that it took UD LESS than a week to get it to me is even better.

See for yourself:

After opening the two boxes I bought from Blowout, I was happy to see that I got two boxes with more than the alotted hits. In one box, I got two box hits in the Romo and the Avery, along with the Woodson Sign of The Times, and in the other I got the Sayers SPA Retro Sigs. That was awesome, and I ended up with four very nice cards.

All in all, a pretty great day.

  1. More sepia cards should be made. Love the leatherheads, hate the idea behind the gu portion.

The Peterson's beautiful though, it's too bad that the sharpie looks to have been on it's last legs (or peterson was just signing them stupid-fast).

  2. Im not sure why the scan comes out like that, the Peterson pretty sweet in person.

I dont think this card would have had the same effect with a sticker. Its truly a great looking piece to have.

As for the Avery, its the thickness of a sweet spot card for some reason, but I think the design is interesting. Im not a fan of the mem part of the card, but that is kind of secondary to the design. Same with the sayers. More about showcasing an awesome look. SPA 2008 was truly a great set.

  3. If you had such a great day, why are you yelling at all your "haters"?

  4. I think you're going to regret collecting so many AP cards. I've been a huge fan since college but he really reminds me of Bo Jackson - FREAKISH speed and power. Hopefully he doesn't have a demise by the hands of the Bengals.

Are you up for selling the Sayers card in your break?

  5. I love the National Chicle inserts. I have the regular chicle of Adrian, but the card you have is incredible. One day I'd love to get a complete master set of it, but I doubt I could afford that card. How much did that run you again?

  6. Just an advisory, Ryan's link is NSFW. Funny, but NSFW.

That Peterson is so nice. Great redemption pick up there.

I bet Wheeler comes after you for that Woodson. Nice Breaks.

  7. Awful sig by AP on that card. Fading Sharpie plus he got lazy and just does the AP28 these days. I'd contact UD and get a replacement.

  8. I really don't like the Gale Sayers or Rod Woodson cards though. The Exquisite Sayers is just beautiful, and there's one up on the 'bay but the guy won't ship to Canada.

I'm new to collecting, but that year of the exquisite is just beautiful with the two jersey swatches and gold paint pen on black background.

PS: Tamba Hali! Tamba Tamba Tamba.

  9. UGH!! Hate the leatherhead inserts! A piece of random leather helmet that has nothing to do with that player whatsoever. The three other cards are pretty nice, especially that Woodson.
