Missing Hit From Upper Deck

First off, I want to thank the people over at Upper Deck customer service. They swung into action when I reported our box had a missing hit, and today I received a package with a card in it. Obviously the popularity of the blog had something to do with it, but either way we got what we were due.

Now, I have two ways in mind of doing this, and we can do it either way. The first way is we can open up the card (which should be an SPA box hit) and send it to the person who has the team. Obviously this is the previously posted way of doing it, but considering that one person already received 2 of the 4 box hits, I have another proposal. I can keep it sealed and random it off to the people who didnt receive a box hit, the Edelman, or the Jarrius Byrd. That leaves us with a few other people who didnt get a hit, to which I will random off the sealed package. They can have said sealed package and open it up for everyone to see what they got.

Please post in the comments with your ideas.

  1. I know if I say raffle it off, it'll be from one of my teams...

    but...

    raffle it off.

  2. I say to open it and give it to the team.

That's what people signed up for anyways.

  3. Funny Gellman, I actually had to create a google account to comment. Since I didnt get a hit I would much rather have this randomed off. When you consider that the people who got hits usually got multiple hits, its not like they need MORE. Give the rest of us a chance.

Bruce got the Sanchez and the Tyson Jackson, Volutarheel got Pat White which is good, the guy who had the bills shouldnt be complaining, the Edelman is a nice card, and the Barden guy got a dual AND the Patch. I think that means its fair to random it off.

This is coming from a guy with a vested interest, im eager to see what the others think.

  4. Canuck, you would be in the drawing unless you got one of the cards mentioned. I dont think you got one of those.

  5. I think it should be opened and given to the person who holds the rights to that team. It was a hit that was missing from a box. Had it been in the box as it should have been it would of worked that way regardless of what the other hits were.

  6. Bruce, im kind of leaning that way. We will see what everyone thinks.

  7. Open and give it to who owns it. Just seems the fair/right way to do it.

  8. Though, I am not part of this. I just want to offer things up for consideration.

    1. Does the box say guaranteed hit or 'on average?' If it's on average, then that hit wasn't guaranteed and UD did a nice thing by sending the extra hit. If that's the case, I think it would be raffled off to people who didn't get anything.

    2. If the hit was guaranteed, then it should probably go to the person who should have gotten it in the first place.

However, consider the people who paid for the cards and didn't get anything. It would be nice if more people got hits out of the break and spread the wealth a bit.

  9. Its always "on average." The only reason we got this hit was because the people at Upper Deck were nice and recognized who it was for. My help with the UD blog expedited the process, otherwise, we would have had to wait like everyone else.

I thought I would throw it out there and see if people would like to have it randomed. If not, I am happy to do it the posted way. I dont have a stake in it either way, so it doesnt matter to me.

  12. It should be opened and given to the person who had that team. That's the way the process was going to work. This card should have been in the box in the first place so same rules should apply.

  13. The only guy who did well on this break was the guy who had the Jets and pulled the Sanchez, and he even deserves the card UD sent if it so happens to be another Jet. It should go to the person whose team gets pulled, and if a Shonn Greene/Mark Sanchez dual patch auto got sent our way, than it should still go to the guy with the Jets. Thats how it goes with a group break isn't it? Sometimes you get randomized the best team and the cards don't come your way...or sometimes you get the friggen Bills and end up pulling a sweet Jairus Byrd auto =)
