NFL LCM Mirror Black 1/1s and Logo Patches

An interesting lot was posted on eBay lately, and I must say, it is quite impressive. Is it $20,000 impressive? No. But that doesnt mean I dont want it. Here is what I know, the guy used to be on one of the message boards and was buying up all the Mirror blacks for his collection.

Secondly, as with most Mirror Blacks, most of them were quite chipped up beyond acceptability, and it became obvious that you get what you see, hence the far away pics in the auction rather than the scans we are used to.

This brings me to another discussion, which has intrigued me for a number of months. If you have the money to listlessly buy these types of cards, is it cooler to have these, or a plethora of other cool auto memorabila cards. For instance, the Mirror Black Peterson should go for about $1100-$1500 these days, and for $1100, you could buy quite a bit of other Peterson stuff. You could definitely buy my collection and a few others. Yet, that slew of cards just doesnt have the pizzazz of the NFL logo cards. They just dont, because you could show a million autos to a guy and he would be impressed, but show him an NFL logo card of a top player, you are going to get a much more enthusiastic reaction.

As for me, I love the logo cards, as long as they are well done. The problem is that while I am a quality over quantity guy, with the logo cards, the quality is there with the cards I would get instead. I would much rather have an Equisite RC Patch Auto than the Mirror black, even though it is 100 times more available. Thats me though. Obviously this guy wanted the Mirror Blacks and logos of a number of good players.

  1. That Exquisite design as shown in the pic must by far be the greatest design of a card, ever. I love it, but I havn't seen one of any of my favorite players. If I saw one of Jacobs I wouldn't hesitate to pay $500 if I knew it was in mint condition.

  3. washportis(beckett id) just put them up to show off as he stated to me. It is 35 cents to list. He has no intentions of selling and has not tried to sell them off ny themselves dp. Where did you get that from/ He just picked up the Holmes certified black from me for 675 3 weeks ago.
-The bush he just bought for 600 about the same time. The Steve Smith in his other 25k lot he just bought from snyper for 350. He just wanted to put it out there. Sort of like a 70 cents mailday. He stated to me he is not a memeber fo any boards and this is his way of showing cards>

  4. First off, ebay is not photobucket, so that sucks. If you are so desperate to show your goods, join a board.

Secondly, maybe it was the guy who had all the SPA logos that was trying to sell them because he overpaid. My bad.

Thirdly, knew that was snypers, I thought there may be two Smiths from that set or something. How did he get it if he wasnt part of a board?

  5. for the record that Peterson would sell for about 2500 if he really wanted to sell it. 1100 is not even close. I am not sure you are in touch with High End cards at all. no disrespect at all DP but sometimes when blogging you are misinformed or just form a theory based on no factual knowledge..So goes the blogging world. Gives me something to bitch about. Keeo the good fight. Hey I emailed Todd about this article. He is the seller. maybe he will chime in :) Oh yeah I lst cards sometimes to mess with other sellers. I even list cards to give shoutouts to the Beckett guys that I alwasy talk to. It is 35 cents. Just a reason to have fun with the hobby.

  10. Real quick. I love the taking a pic with the digital camera as well. The exquisite 1/1s are hand signed so you will get the chipping because of the mail to and from the athlete etc. I would rather have that then the sticker. Do not think he is trying to be sneaky. He takes all his pics like that you can check his bucket. Pretty nice! Todds collection is sick!

  11. hey whats up guys, my buddy wheeler told me about this article so i thought id join. im the owner of these cards. just to get it out there like wheeler said i mainly posted the auctions for show. i used to be apart of beckett boards back when it was its old self, once it changed i havnt been on there much. if there any other good boards worth checking out lmk. the first lot i had posted i would have sold for the right amount but the mirror black lot was basically just to let people check it out. if i wanted to sell a certain card for sure then id just post it separate like iv done for the past few years. as far as the peterson goes i would never sell it but 1.5k is not close... if followed prices for most 1/1s from any set to judge my prices. i know the market is bad right now because of the economy but if someone wants something bad enough they gotta pay it or id just hold it. like i said tho in this case im not going to sell any lcm 1/1s no matter what basically. im not the guy who had all the spa 1/1s, in fact i bought the jones drew from that guy. thanks and take care everyone- Todd

  12. Todd,

If the EXQUISITE Peterson sold for 2500, there is no way yours would sell for more than that. I just dont see it going for more than 1500 in a straight auction, people just dont have that kind of money to throw around anymore. Thanks for coming, I thought you were a different guy.
