Great Day At The Local Shop!

Its very rare that I pull anything when buying loose packs. Its rarer that I pull anything to even recoup half the value of what I buy. Today was not one of those days.

I was running some errands and I stopped in at the Baseball Card Co. over here in Northridge, CA to see what I could find. They had their normal great selection of packs, so I decided to try some Bowman Chrome, after all the Topps Chrome I had busted. Luckily for me I did, because in the six packs I purchased, I pulled these two cards:

Yes, this is the first red refractor I have ever pulled, and the White was just a bonus. The Massaquoi is numbered 2/5 and is up for sale as we speak. In addition to these cards, I also pulled a base Stafford RC and a base Freeman RC, so these six packs were probably the best ever for me.

Let me know if you are interested in either, I will consider any reasonable offer.

Ryan 1/1 Logo Pulled On Blowout Forums

I am sorry for the long string of Exquisite posts, but damn, this was a nice fucking pull by a guy who posts on the blowout forums. Of the big rookies, this one was the biggest, and I am glad that it went to a regular guy who buys his boxes from a shop, rather than a big corporation or hobby big wig.

Also, it looks much better than the Patch Auto because of the pic change and the design for the logos. For getting rid of the Rare Materials 1/1s and making them /10 and /35, UD did an awesome job with these 1/1 logos.

Saturday Pack Break

Well, I stopped by the local shop and decided it was finally time to break some Absolute. I bought two packs from a bunch they had, and I hit something good for the first time, well, ever.

Im going to see what I can get for it in trade, then maybe sell it to buy some peterson stuff.

Box Break: Topps Chrome Football

Taking a break from the JDRF blog-a-thon, I got an early wedding present from my best friend, who gave me a box of Chrome football out of his case. I must say it was really fun to open, and I had a pretty good box. Here are the stars of the break:

First, I pulled just about all the big RCs except for Ryan and Stewart. That was great. I also pulled two JD Bootys and a Tyrell Johnson, so that was also a nice thing to add to my collection. When it comes to the base RCs, the best ones you pull are always the ones in perfect condition. Luckily, Felix Jones was one of those. I was very careful in putting into the sleeve, and hopefully he will be good enough someday that this will be a good one to sell.

Second, Chrome is all about the refractors, and mine were both awesome and fucking awful at the same time. My box hit copper refractor was Jeff "TO Thinks Im Gay" Garcia, and I just about puked. My box loader gold refractor was LenDale White /199, but it wasn’t a total loss as I bought the JD Booty for 5 bucks. So im okay with big LW for my topper. The base refractors were some of the best you can get, and that was huge. In the second pack I pulled a Darren McFadden, and it is pristine! Love it. In the fourth pack I pulled Colt Brennan, who I hate, but people love, so that was good too. As for the others, aside from Roethlisberger and Romo, who will go for 2 bucks each, I got Phil Merling and Tracy Porter as my other RC Refractors.

Lastly, I got two autos in the box, which was awesome. What made it awesome-er was that neither were redemptions! I pulled Dan Morgan first, which was kind of a let down, and then Earl Bennett for the Bears who is a division rival. Could have been better, could have been worse. At least Bennett was an RC premiere guy.

Thanks to Jeff for the box, and let me know if you need any of this.

2008 Donruss Classics Break

Today sucked majorly. I spent most of the day in bed, sick to my stomach, and the Twins decided that giving up 18 runs in a loss to the Red Sox was the best way to end the series. Around 5pm I started to feel better, so I went to Walgreens to pick up some pepto and other shit to make me stop feeling like shit. On the way back I stopped at the card store and picked up a pick-me-up.

I got a good price on 10 packs of classics, and pulled some cool stuff, thankfully. Out of the 10 packs, I hit 2 of the 3 box hits, including the auto. It was really nice to pull a short printed auto of Limas Sweed instead of a non-RC premiere guy who most likely wont play. The Sweed is numbered to 125, so he is one of the top tier RCs for this product. Pretty nice.

The second hit I thought was cool because it is an old timey guy as well as a Timeless Treasure jersey instead of the awful looking classic singles. Blanda disposed of the Vikes in the superbowl, so it is pretty bittersweet.

I also managed to hit a Mario Manningham RC /999 so that was nice too. Overall a good end to a really shitty day. If you have Peterson or Mauer stuff for the Sweed and the Blanda, let me know. I would really like a Felix Jones rc /999 for the Manningham if you have one that you want to trade, so let me know.
